The city has Proposition Q on the November ballot. Austenite's should choose carefully what they vote for.
Prop Q is a “forever” increase in property taxes. From The Statesman: “ … it, will cost the owner of a home valued at $500,000 about $300 more annually of city property taxes. That doesn’t include possible increases from county government, school districts or other taxing jurisdictions. If the tax-rate election fails, the same homeowner would pay just over $100 more in city property taxes next year.”
A “forever” tax is like the one we have been paying, and will continue paying for Project Connect, with no end in sight, and not one of the routes completed!
I’m voting “no”. I suggest that you vote “no” also.
